Method of stitching video shot by Back to Back with Entaniya Fisheye attached with Autopano Video Pro
Here we introduce method for creating 360° video with Autopano Video Pro (Kolor co.) from footage shot by Back to back with Entaniya Fisheye lens attached.
Autopano Video Pro 2.3
Autopano Video 2.3 has stitching parameter for Entaniya Fisheye soo stitching work can be easily done.
Autopano Video Pro 2.2 and older versions
Stitching can not be performed correctly with Autopano Video Pro 2.2 as it is.
Using the method introduced below, save xml file that describes setting of the lens into the folder of the software. I will be added to the program’s “Stitch as” selection as the parameter of Entaniya Fisheye.

If you use Autopano Video Pro 2.2 or an older version, copy the preset file below to designated folder of Autopano Video Pro.

Method of adding preset file.
Autopano Video Pro > Choose ”Autopano Video Pro > Preference…”
Click ”Data location” folder
Drop the preset file into the opened folder.
After restarting Autopano Video Pro, you will able to choose Entaniya Fisheye in lens settings when stitching.

Basic procedure for creating 360° VR footage from video shot by Back to Back with Entaniya Fisheye attached.
Dropping shot footage to Autopano Video Pro.
Drop the 2 file shots by Back to Back to Autopano Video Pro.
Synchronizing shot footage.
In order to replay 2 videos at same scene, they have to be synchronized.
First, choose ”Synchro” in the upper panel menu.
Next, choose method of synchronization.
Choose ”Use audio to synchronize” if you want the to use sound as a cue for synchronization.
Or choose ”Use motion to synchronize” if you want to use motion in the footage as a cue for synchronization.
Then synchronization will begin.
After synchronization has been finished, finally click ”Apply” button – in case there is no problems.
Stitching shot video
Choose ”Stitch” from the upper panel menu.
After that, choose lens which was used for shooting from the item list of ”Stitch as”.
We choose ”Entaniya 250”here because 250° lens was used for sample footage.
Finally click ”Stitch” button and stitching starts.
Stitching was done!
Image that has been converted into 360 VR is displayed.
In case of accurately adjusted NPP(No Parallax Point), we’re already almost ready at this point. However, this doesn’t usually happen since we cannot adjust NPP when shooting 360 VR footage. There’s often some kind of problem in video so there are a lot of situations where it can’t be combined correctly.
From this state, you can modify the video more with Autopano Giga to improve stitching precision.
Clicking ”Edit” button starts up Autopano Giga.

Modifying crop area
From menu, click ”Image characteristic” button with “i” mark.
Next, click ”crop” tab in the upper corner of the opened window.
Cutting out range (crop) will be chosen with a yellow circle.
Confirm that the image fits into the yellow circle.
If the image is out of the circle, drag to adjust its place and size.
Confirming angle of view
Next, confirm settings of footage file.
Click the triangle mark in the left side of the screen and the list will be displayed.
In the list, confirm that the value of ”Angle of view” is accurate.
You have to check whether the value is close to the angle of the lens used or not.
For example, this sample was shot by 250° lens. Therefore, the value of about 241 seems fine. However, there are sometimes situations where the value is 190 or 270. If so, please change the angle value to match the value of the lens.
As in our example, around 10° would be permissible range.
Adding control points.
Choose control edit in the upper menu.
Common points of video files are chosen automatically but sometimes the program will only choose half of the screen. In this case, stitching can not be done well.
In these kind of situations, you have to control points to enhance stitching precision.
Add points by choosing the side of picture with no control points.
Optimizing control point
If the result of control points is good, the points will be green. If result is bad, points will be red.
For the side where there were not control points in the beginning, all the newly added points are red.
Click the optimization to adjust this.
When the optimization is completed, the color of control points will change.
Points have become green but there’s still room for improvement.
Delete remaining red control points.
After deleting, click optimization button and the result might be much better.
By repeating the process of deleting red control points and reselecting them, perception can be enhanced.
Sometimes the result will be bad no matter what. In these cases, we have no choice but to give up.
When you go back to editing screen, you can see that stitching precision has grown. But there’s distortion in image and this needs to be corrected.
Correct the distortion by dragging the image while checking vertical and horizontal line.
If it’s not slanted horizontally or vertically, it’s perfect.
If there are no problems, go back to Autopano Video Pro.

I was able to confirm that stitching was precisely done with Autopano Video Pro as well.
Lastly, choose ”Render” and export the footage – then it’s complete.
