You can stitch footage shot by Back to Back with Entaniya Fisheye 280° using 360 VR development software Autopano Video Pro.

Autopano Video Pro already has exclusive parameter to be compatible with Entaniya Fisheye 280°. However, sometimes there are problems with stitching work.

Here’s an explanation of what you should when you don’t get good result for stitching.

The exposure decision

When shooting with Entaniya Fisheye 280°, there are situations where GoPro camera cannot decide the exposure. In that situation, you should perform a test shooting in advance and confirm whether there is overexposure or not.

In case there are bright areas due to overexposure, you have to set the exposure level lower using settings of Spot mater or function of ProTune.

The video will look completely different depending on whether you turn Spot mater on or off. You can notice the difference clearly from the example videos below.

General setting of Spot mater.

The basic setting of Spot mater is to either turn it on or off. Since this is only a general example, exposure won’t always be suitable for the situation even if you did as recommended below. You should always perform a test shooting and confirm whether the exposure level is good or not.

In case of shooting outside in sunny weather :ON
In case of shooting outside in cloudy or rainy weather :OFF

In case of shooting inside with bright lightning : OFF
in case of shooting inside with dark lightning : OFF

Shooting mode and clap sound.

When shooting video with Entaniya  Fisheye 280°, the best results will be achieved in 4K mode. The final result, equiretangular form of the video will be 4000 × 2000.

Also, when synchronizing footage with software, sound recorded becomes a sign that makes it easy to synchronize the footage. That’s why it’s recommended to record something like a clap sound to the footage.

Dropping the video file to Autopano Video Pro

Start Autopano Video Pro and then drop the 2 video clips to the program.

Synchronizing videos with Autopano Video Pro.

First of all, in order to align separately shot footage, click Synchro tab in the upper panel.

Program will automatically synchronize the footage.
As hints for proper synchronization, the program will use sound and movement. This footage is shot by fixed camera, we will click ”use audio to synchronize” button for judging the synchronization points by sound. After that, click ”use motion to synchronize” button for judging by movement.

If you add clapping sound in the beginning when shooting video, it’s recorded to the camera and synchronizing will go smoothly.

Once sync of footage is done, click ”Apply” button.

Autopano Video has a parameter for Entaniya Fisheye lens. The video is shot with Entaniya Fisheye 280°, so choose ”Stitch as Entaniya 280”

How to assign crop area in Autopano Giga.

You can see the assigned cutting area cropped and fitted into a yellow circle.

The place of image circle is different for each camera. You also have to confirm whether the another circle of image is aligned or not. If the image doesn’t fit in the circle, you can modify it the same way as explained above – simply by moving the circle to fit the image.

Click the button in upper panel that looks like a net.
A window where you can add control points will open.

By clicking the tab circled by red in the image above, the program automatically adjusts the control points. As a result, light green points increase drastically.

The result often changes after deleting some of the red points and then adjusting again.
You will get better and more precise results if you delete and add the points over and over again, always adjusting after deletion.
